ADV 9-CAMERAS AT THE INSTITUTE ARE INVADING TEACHERS PRIVACY.

Last time I talked to a friend who talked to a security guard I found out that they watched some teachers entering the nearby pubs at night, mentioned names , who they were with, and for how long they were in there. Peeping tom watching? scrutiny? what is the real purpose of security cameras? Is it important to know other people´s lives? MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS...he said.

  3. poor your friend ;Its not fair because what teachers do outside of their work is not their problem .I think that teachers have to protest for this. Also, there´s no simple answer to that I think that everyone have their own life .So, anyone need to know what others do, is not their business but in some cases is their business because if this person work for you .You need to know who is what he do .So , in some cases is acceptable ; but not always because for example your neighbor don´t need to know what you do everyday and your friends too .People need privacy ,everyone have this right. So, I´m against of scrutiny .Besides,You could think that the purpose of security cameras is to surveillance workers but perhaps this is a purpose but is not the only purpose and is not the principle purpose ;because the principal purpose is to have a better life and have an efficent work. Also, that´s why people used security cameras to have security but sometimes in some places this cameras don´t have the correct use because they are used for scrutinize people and that´s very bad and is unrespectful.

  4. that's not fair...I mean... maybe employers or big brothers can watch what teachers do but just in their work not in their private life, so, it's a sinister way to see what others people do out of their work.
My point of view about the use cameras it's different, I think that they are used just for security and in order to know what happen INSIDE the institute, for example, to know how is the behave of the teachers in El Cultural, or maybe if there is something wrong or rare.
that's why I think that it's disrespectfully if someone use those cameras for watch what employers or common people do with their private life, like those teachers entering the nearby pubs at night.
As a conclusion, I would say that it's not important to know what people do in their private life because they're not bothering to anyone. So, there is not moral using those cameras in order to watch what people do out of their work.

That’s not new … I feel sorry for your friends! but this cases happen many times … nobody respects the privacy of others...neither me:( … I can not imagine how demeaned they can feel..Its unrespectful to do that .. I heard many cases like this one … but there is again the same answer … “its not my fault the camera catched those images ” . we always justify ourselves when we do something wrong … this is a complicated issue since we know it’s the institute saveguards to have those materials to deter some problems with the company … like I said before only with the company so they can not involve in the employees lives and keep and eye on what they are doing outside the job.. it's awful, isn't it? … what they can get of that ? nothing ! they just gossip on them … to have fun? .. probably! that could be a stupid possible answer … this problems is driving more and more since surveillance cause loss of trust and moral … one more time what is happening with this world … we only need loyalty to do whatever we want... just to succeed in life … :D

  6. OMG!!! that's not fair. cameras are use for security not for scrutinize in others life. Employers are right if they put cameras because that's a way that they can prevent a robbery, know if their employees are doing a good job and know if they use their work time to solve private problems. But sometimes the security guards use the cameras to see what's going on near the place of work and they see some employees and start spying them. I think that's not their business because they are not working in that moment and they can do whatever they want because is their life. It might be very uncomfortable to know that someone is watching you when you are in your free time and if you do something bad one day people can be talking about that. Institutions should prohibit security guards to use the cameras to scrutinize in people's private life.

  7. In my opinion, it´s important to use video camaras or more sophisticated technology in order to watch and know, what is happening inside of a company, but of course , these kinds of things have to be in places in which could happend something to deter theft, but if these things are using in rest areas such as locker rooms,it´s no necessary. In this case it´s not fair because of teacher´s activities that happend outside of the institution, is not the problem of the security guards that work there.I think that the problem is the bad use of this camaras from the security guards , because they are interested about privacy live of employees instead of control inside of the institution.
As everybody know, companies, industries,or institutions have the right to know about all the activities that happend there, and in some cases they prefer to know more about the employees by kept an eye on the employees at the time they are working,or employers prefer to eavesdrop on employee phone calls whenever thet want. These two final examples are good examples to prove that some employers take an advantage of employees that enter to their privacy. This kind of invasion of the privacy of employees could cause different kinds of problems, that could be employees work with less freedom than before and also not to feel confortable with it.Another way to look at it is the point of view of the employers that said that they need information in order to make important decisions about quality and safety on the job.Imformation like employees´physical and psychological health, political preferences and whatever they need to protect their institution.
Finally,it´s a complicated issue but i think that it´s not important to know the private lives of the employees but at the same time it´s very important to have video camaras in an important institution like El Cultural to deter theft but always having respect of the employees´privacy.

  8. i believe security cameras should be used to survelliance not to spy on people's life, i mean you would have to agree that it's awful when you notice that someone has been watching every move you make, i know because it happened to me. so, everyone has the right to choose what to do with their time, during work you're supposed to work, but after that you can do whatever you want to do, i mean while not impair the company or the place you work.

  9. well, there is no simple answer to that but i think that cameras are very important to see what happen in the companies, streets or places that required more attention.
But i think that we should have privacy. People are free to do what ever they want because they are responsable in what they do and because it`s their life. we can`t tame them all the time because it`s not our bussines. To conclude, i think that people have rights to do the things that they think that are correct or incorrect. Are their life and we have to respect that.

  10. IN my opinion, it's important to put video camera and more modern technology inside of the culture institute so there is a lot of surveillance in order to deter theft, see whether teacher are doing a good job, or their teaching method is enough for the students but, sometimes big brothers snooping into their private lives and it's really outside range of responsible business so obviosuly that is uncomfortable.
However, I identify that institute has the tame, but you can complain about that. It's imposible to have a sense of pride and dignity in your job and consequently you feel very demeaned .
In addition, you can distribute that information and what you want to do about that problem, for email all your workmate and try to get at your anger about that situation,. Moreover, you can talk with your boss and propose new legitimacy laws in order to avoid someone snooping your private lives.

  12. I would say that cameras are very useful for security things, however there are SOME people who don't respect these a do what they want with cameras. It can make people lose their dignity or feel invaded. by those people.
I can conclude that cameras are what they are according to the person who manages it. :)

  14. As far as I'm concerned, cameras at 'El Cultural' are not used properly; I don't get why cameras are pointed outside of the main building instead of being pointed inside. There's no doubt in my mind that cameras inside is okay, BUT outside wachin' teachers where they go to or whatever they do, I would say ..."it's not your business"... but teachers must agree with it even they dislike, otherwise, they may be fired.
That's why some teachers are between jobs now, 'cause they faced this situation and said what were in their minds, I can't understand what's going on! It's clear that something wrong happens but we have make a move, otherwise, it will continue over and over. Well, I totally agree with using cameras to deter theft but I am at odds with using them in order to gossip like Big Brother in this case, security guards. As a student, I'd say no one has legitimate reasons to invade teachers' privacy using any type of monitoring ... only if it is related to academic purposes ... Finally, teachers, "if you're not doing anything wrong, what do you have to worry about?

  15. This is a particular problem in companies and institutions:Using video cameras in a bad way to snoop people, in this case teachers. However, this is not their function and people like watchmen mus not involved in private lifes; they have to do their job, Security! So, This is an inconvenient in main building but What about the other building? It really needs cameras to look the equipment, some of them have been stolen and nobody says nothing also nobody realizes about something extrange! The real question is When will we use properly video cameras to our security and not to invade teacher's life privacy? Video camaras are outside the building, that's OK but people need their own space. 'I can be a teacher at day and a Stripper at night' one teacher told me and I agree it is not only important because they feel intimidated. The point I want to make is that we are talking about our rights, about how respect human dignity.

  16. My take on workplace privacy is that employers has the legitimate right to know what is going on at workplace; however ,the real problem has as its starting point when they invade or do not respect the employees' privacy. I think it is right to put some cameras for surveillance (because nowadays it is very difficult to trust a person you do not know well), to check your office e-mail (not your personal one), and, in your case teachers, to check your classes sometimes, but they go too far when they use those cameras to invade the teachers privacy while they are OUT, even if they are in the surrounding areas of their workplace, it is their personal and private life there in the OUTSIDE.
Finally, I have herd that some people are between jobs because they do feel comfortable and invaded at workplace, well that might be why, and teachers if you do not do anything wrong, what do you have to worry about? , but....thinking it twice...Yeah! You have to worry about your privacy being invaded in any way!!!!! Ah! And I think YOU should have told them MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!!!

  18. well i think that everything have advantages and disadvantages. Security cameras were create to know what happen IN the company, but not to know everything that the people who work there do, workers have the right of privacy, even when they are in their work they have to have privacy, maybe not everywhere, but must have a place where they have privacy!, what the workers do OUT of the company ,is not they're business. In the other hand will be good to know kind of people are working in our company, maybe the maganer is a drug addict! and he/she is spending company's money to buy the drugs!. But in general I think that if a teacher go to the pubs near the el cultural so the security guard don't have to say nothing, it's nothing dangerous, so he's gossip and not doing his work!(not only girls do that ¬¬, you know now teacher)so if it's a REALLY IMPORTANT thing security guard have to talk baout, it not just let it go away!!

  19. well in my personal opinion in this case tools of security are using in a bad way, because security guard was keeping an security guard see everything that happen outside of the institute because his work , but is unacceptable that he gave private information to others , because this is private information¡ ,this only should be used if its very necessary, other point of view is that cameras use is for the long protection eye every movement that the teachers made, and then, gave this information out to other people, well is acceptable that of the institution, I don't understand why the security guard paid a specially attention to this situation, names, who they were with, even he take the trouble to chek the time that the teacher was there, maybe scrutiny, maybe he wanted to know what happened ,I don’t know, finally I think that everyone is free to do things without surveillance and accept that cameras are important for security, but the information that it take must be handled carefully and not given out.

  20. Well, in my opinion I think that it is exaggerated because they're teachers, they're not criminal and they're in a school or institution, not in jail. So the managers should think about it and put themselves in the teacher’s position so they would understand that it is uncomfortable and stupid. Another thing is that they're people and they have the right to their privacy and if they're monitored, at least they should have to be reported or anything like that, but if they're monitored and they're not reported. The company will be breaking the law and if the employees get noticed that it was happening, I'm sure that he or she will sue the company because of invading their privacy. Finally, I will want to tell to all companies to think twice before you put cameras, because I'm sure that at the end you would go to the court and there're many possibilities that you can lose.

  21. The problem is not with cameras. Their function is to do it. Cameras have to look everything and every people. So it is for security at the institute. The problem is with the security guard, because he told other people what teachers did that night. So he was gossiping the teachers’ life. Why security guard mentioned names and other things if it was not a danger for him or for the institute. Teachers did not do something against the institute. In this case, the teachers’ private life was invaded. But I consider that there is something wrong with the behaviour of teachers. Why did they go the nearby pubs near the institute? Why did not they choose other place? I think that the work of a teacher should be with more responsibility because they influence over many people. Actually they were not working in that moment, but being teacher is not only giving knowing, but also giving a good example.
Finally, the security guard crossed the line of privacy, but the teachers should think what place they can go in other time.

  22. In my personal opinion, technology has been always developed to help people´s life, but there are some cases when it invades people´s privacy and that becomes a very important social problem. The use of cameras in institutes is strictly for security and in some cases to watch how teachers made their classes and the behavior of their students. The fact of the employers of giving cameras to security guards for watching their employees outside the institute and out of work time is a complete violation to the rights of people. I mean, when you hide a employee, you made him before a psychological evaluation of their behavior and that gives you an idea of how people are and if they fix in the profile you´re looking for, there wouldn´t be necessary to keep watching them after their work hours. What people do after their work, that´s not a problem of the employers, people are free of doing whatever they want because they´re not inside the institutes, where however there are rules you have to follow to keep the order and the progress of the institution. I think that if someone notices is victim of being watched with cameras by security guards of their work institutions, they should present a claim for what´s happening and to talk to their superiors to solve these problems. My name is Jacqueline Galvez Goicochea and I think that people is free of doing whatever they want when they´re not in their labor centers, and employers should avoid the use of these methods that will cause at the end the massive break of their employees and the fall of the image and prestige of their business.

well I think that techonolgy is good but the problem is in the way we use it. For example cameras, it has the function to see all the things that happen around the institute.
So the security guard has to do it, and if he see some teachers drinking, well he must keep it to himself, its not his bussiness.
And also what security guard is doing calls gossiping, and when he see them the teachers were no more teachers, they were civils like us so they have the right to do whatever they want, its their ow lifes.
And finally monitoring is good some times but it doesn't mean that the personal life of your employees belongs to you...

  24. well, i think that putting cameras in the place is something good for the own save of the place .But they have to used them for the security of the place no for watching what are the techers doing at night or for how long they stay in a place , or with who the teacher was . That's the private life of everyone, because when techers get out from their job is no more the company problem , they can do whatever they like because is their own life and is not the bussines of anyone. And in that especific place i think that the responsable was the security guard because he used the camera for somehting that does't was his bussines, and i think that the manager of the place should know about this problem.
